ARCO Math was founded by Reinier Bouwmeester, an educator with over 30 years of teaching experience. The organization emerged from decades of hands-on classroom work and a deep understanding of how children learn mathematics autonomously. Our pilot programs launched in Malaysia in 2025, focusing on Year 2-6 mathematics education in underserved communities.

ARCO Math is designed to be affordable and accessible. Fees are kept minimal—just enough to sustain NGO operations and ensure program quality. Pricing varies based on implementation model (individual families, schools, or NGO partnerships), and scholarship opportunities are available for families in need. ARCO is not tutoring, and it's not traditional classroom teaching. Instead, it's an autonomous learning system where children take charge of their own progress, supported by peers, parents, and diagnostic tools. There are no lectures, no pressure, and no competition—just a supportive environment where mistakes become learning opportunities and children build confidence at their own pace.

Absolutely! ARCO Math is designed to complement, not replace, existing school curricula. It strengthens foundational arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals) that support all areas of mathematics. Schools and parents use ARCO as a supplementary program that builds confidence and autonomy without conflicting with classroom learning.

Getting started is simple:

  1. Parents: Contact us to learn about enrollment options and fees
  2. Schools: Request our pilot proposal to explore classroom integration
  3. NGOs/Funders: Request our concept note to discuss partnership opportunities

ARCO Math currently focuses on Year 2 through Year 6 students (approximately ages 8-12). This critical period establishes arithmetic foundations that support all future mathematics learning. Our approach is especially effective for children who need to build confidence, fill knowledge gaps, or develop autonomous learning habits.

Parents play a supportive role, not a teaching role. You don't need to understand the math or supervise every problem. Instead, you provide encouragement, a calm learning environment, and occasional check-ins through our simple parent dashboard. ARCO is designed so children learn independently, with peers helping each other when needed.

Yes! ARCO Math materials and support are available in both English and Bahasa Malaysia to serve diverse Malaysian communities. Our bilingual approach ensures that language is never a barrier to quality mathematics education, particularly in rural Sarawak where we focus our pilot programs.

ARCO Math requires minimal technology:

  • A tablet or computer with internet access (for accessing worksheets and content)
  • Paper and pencil for working through problems
  • That's it! No expensive equipment, no complicated software. We keep technology simple and accessible, especially for rural communities with limited resources.

ARCO tracks progress in two ways:

  1. Math mastery: Through weekly tests that assess arithmetic skills and identify remaining gaps
  2. Autonomy growth: Through reflection logs where students self-assess effort, challenges, and learning strategies

Parents and teachers receive clear, easy-to-understand reports showing both skill development and growing independence—not just test scores.
